Managing Your Job Search

It's a big step to start looking for a new job, but it might be the start of a wonderful new career, so it's important not to be paralyzed with indecision. I understand how exciting and scary this can be, and I can help you find and land the job of your dreams:

  • Be Resolute About Searching
It's all too easy to abandon your search and slip back into your old, tired job; but I'll be there to remind you why you started searching in the first place, and how wonderful your life will be when you're working at a great new job.

  • Write a Killer Resume
Your resume is the key that unlocks the door to your new job, and it has to be better than your rivals' if you want to get that important first interview. I can help you review your whole career for the important experience you've gained, then use it to write a compelling resume that will have the hiring manager reaching for the phone.

  • Practice Interviewing Skills
Interviews seem very scary, especially if you're out of practice, but I can help you make a plan for handling all those questions, coping with the nervousness, and presenting yourself well. Then I'll help you practice interviewing until all these become automatic and you're ready to walk in with confidence.

Testimonial

"I hadn’t looked for employment in over a decade.  After holding a series of part time jobs and volunteer activities, I decided to look for assistance to find the right full-time work.  As a career counselor, Bruce Taylor helped me to stay focused, use helpful strategies and be disciplined about my job search.

From the start, he encouraged me to back off from the imperative of landing a job to first take a closer look at my personal strengths and preferences.   He persuaded me to look for the job that was right for me, that was a good match with my particular gifts, in addition to bringing in much needed income....

At times I felt frustrated, discouraged, or fed-up with my job search.  Along with my family, my career coach was the person who encouraged me and kept me on track.  Today I am working doing contract with a company that plans to fund a new position in the new year, a move that would make my new job permanent."
