Kind Words from Former Colleagues

I cherish my friends from old jobs, and occasionally they have kind things to say about me. You already know that testimonials don't prove anything about my competence, but they do mean that at least someone thinks that I'm dedicated and do a good job.

"Bruce is a brilliant engineer, terrific teacher and a welcome mentor. Bruce has successfully facilitated a very successful engagement to help us improve our engineering practices. This came out of a personal initiative to improve engineering practices that Bruce began almost two years ago. Bruce has been a key contributor to the success we enjoy today."

- Tom Hanson
Director, Kronos Inc.

“If the value of your business proposition resides in the hearts and minds of your associates--and their willingness to make things happen for your customers, Bruce should be on your short list of advisors. When you lose focus or face a new challenge, he'll help revitalize your team and restore the enthusiasm that drives profitable execution and meaningful results.”

- Raymond Coffin
Principal, Coffin & DeLao

“Bruce was an architect at Kronos during the time we worked together. He exhibited extraordinary technical and organizational insight into the products and processes we developed. His thoughtfulness, ability to listen to points of view and see the whole picture were major contributors to the success of the products with which he was associated.”

- David Winer
Sr. Engineering Manager, Kronos, Inc.

“Bruce is exceptionally intelligent, experienced, and thoughtful. He was a great person to work with, not only for his technical knowledge, but also his understanding of the organizational and cultural conditions required to achieve engineering excellence.”

- Chris Bingham
Platform and Suite Architect, Kronos Inc.

"Hi Bruce,

Glad to help out.

I attest that you provided me coaching services during my job transition (May - August 2005) and that I found your services very helpful. I was very satisfied with your services and I would recommend you to anyone trying to rationalize a difficult job situation and then move on to their next challenge."

- Rich Highland
PS/  I am loving my new job!

"Bruce helped me before, during, and after a difficult downsizing of my department. He helped me form a pre-announcement plan, think through the meetings with the downsized engineers, and plan the message of reassurance to the remaining engineers. I'm pleased to say that the downsizing went very well, and the remaining engineers were productive within a very short time. Bruce was a great help in this exercise, and I don't hesitate to recommend him to other executives in the software industry."

- John Mandel
VP of Software, Marketsoft, Inc.

I hadn’t looked for employment in over a decade.  After holding a series of part time jobs and volunteer activities, I decided to look for assistance to find the right full-time work.  As a career counselor, Bruce Taylor helped me to stay focused, use helpful strategies and be disciplined about my job search.

From the start, he encouraged me to back off from the imperative of landing a job to first take a closer look at my personal strengths and preferences.   He persuaded me to look for the job that was right for me, that was a good match with my particular gifts, in addition to bringing in much needed income.

Bruce gave me assignments that helped take the mystery out of the job search.  He offered useful strategies.  He pushed me to be disciplined and systematic in my job search and he took a personal interest in my quest.

Bruce worked together with me to build a resume, an art in itself.  I would recommend that anyone looking for work after a break from full time employment get assistance in creating a convincing resume.

Good source of advice on all kinds of specific questions (What should I wear to an interview?  Who in a company should I address my cover letter to if there is no clearly stated person or department?), and lots of reassurance.

At times I felt frustrated, discouraged, or fed-up with my job search.  Along with my family, my career coach was the person who encouraged me and kept me on track.  Today I am working doing contract with a company that plans to fund a new position in the new year, a move that would make my new job permanent.
